SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team could not complete its rally against No. 16 Lock Haven on Tuesday, falling 14-11 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Robb Sports Complex.
Shippensburg (5-2, 1-2 PSAC) weathered an early storm, as the Raiders fell behind 4-0 after just three minutes of play but outscored Lock Haven (5-2, 2-1) by a 5-4 margin for the remainder of the half. SU scored twice in a 26-second span to trail by just one goal, 10-9, with 22:04 remaining.
It was 11-10 in favor of LHU with 19:30 to play, but the Bald Eagles scored the next three goals over a 15-minute span and that deficit proved to be insurmountable.
The Raiders, who fell at Lock Haven last year by an 18-7 score, never trailed by more than four goals in Tuesday's game. SU won the draw-control battle, 14-13, and committed just two more turnovers than Lock Haven (22-20). Shots (26-23) and groundballs (21-19) were also very close between the two teams.
