SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday afternoon, 5-2, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from David See Field.
Shippensburg (3-8-1, 2-8-0 PSAC) outpaced Pitt-Johnstown (1-10-1, 1-9-1) offensively, tallying 17 shots as compared to seven by the visitors. SU finished with eight shots on goal on the afternoon.
SU fell behind early after Pitt-Johnstown found the back of the net less than 10 minutes into the game. The Raiders found the equalizer in the 18th minute after freshman
Taylor Moore tallied her second goal of the year off an assist from senior
Mallory Patterson.
The Mountain Cats would take a one-goal lead into half after Kaitlyn Eckley scored her first goal of the year in the 36th minute.
Shippensburg tied the game in the 55th minute on a sensational strike from just outside the box by sophomore Isabella Weigel. It was Weigel's first of two goals on the afternoon.
SU would break the tie in the 71st minute after Patterson sent a splendid through ball that freed junior
Tori Mills, who eluded the Pitt-Johnstown keeper to net her first goal of the year and give SU its first and final lead of the game.
In the 85th minute, Pitt-Johnstown was whistled for a handball inside the box that gave a penalty attempt to SU. Weigel converted the penalty to extend the Raider advantage to two goals with five minutes remaining.
Shippensburg would add its fifth and final goal with one second remaining after sophomore

Delaney Shifflett tallied one save in the winning effort to register her second win of the year.
Shippensburg next competes at 3 p.m. Tuesday at No. 1 Kutztown.
