The No. 1 Shippensburg University field hockey team defeated a nationally-ranked opponent for the fourth consecutive match on Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 5 Slippery Rock, 3-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) clash from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Shippensburg (10-1, 5-0 PSAC) notched its eighth consecutive win, including five straight in conference with today's result over Slippery Rock (8-5, 3-2). It was the second win of the year over Slippery Rock, as the Raiders also notched a 5-2 victory back on September 16.

Mary Spisak opened the scoring for SU in the 25th minute, notching her seventh goal of the season from the right side of the circle.

Kylie Huffman would give the Raiders a two-goal advantage just five minutes later after finding the back of the net off an assist from freshman

The Rock would tally its lone goal of the match in the 32nd minute to cut the Raider advantage to just one entering halftime.
