SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to Messiah, the reigning NCAA Division III National Champions, in a battle of top-ranked teams on a rain-soaked afternoon from soggy Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (10-2) managed just three shots on goal and two penalty corners in the contest, as the Raiders were shut out for the second time this season.

Redshirt-junior
Ally Mooney made six saves in goal for the Raiders, while redshirt-junior
Catherine Matuszko made a stop late in the first half in 2:29 of action.

Messiah (12-0) avenged its only loss of the 2016 season, a 1-0 overtime setback in its season opener, to extend its winning streak to 34 consecutive matches. Carissa Gehman netted a hat trick, bringing her season goal total to 22, as the Falcons scored twice in each half.
Shippensburg hosts IUP at 1 p.m. Saturday from Robb Sports Complex.
