SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team scored two goals in the first 12 minutes against Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday night to defeat the Mountain Cats, 2-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from David See Field.
Shippensburg (5-5-2, 3-3-0 PSAC) pressured Pitt-Johnstown (0-9-1, 0-6-0) all night long, tallying 32 shots with 14 being on goal and taking 10 corners.
The Raiders got off to a fast start, with junior
Cole Kropnick scoring his 10th goal of the year just 53 seconds into the game off an assist from senior
Jan Striewe.
In the 12th minute, Striewe would find the back of the net after rifling home a loose ball in the box from five yards out. It marked Striewe's fifth goal of the year.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Garret Watson got the start in net for the Raiders, making two saves to secure his second shutout of the year.
Shippensburg hosts California (Pa.) at 1:30 p.m. Friday from David See Field.
