SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore
Isiah Dorsey finished a cross in the 34th minute Friday for his first collegiate goal to propel the Shippensburg University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting California in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) showdown from David See Field.
Shippensburg (6-5-2, 4-3 PSAC) capitalized on a cross into the box by redshirt-freshman
Erik Espinoza that ended up onto the foot of Dorsey, who rocketed a shot into the net that proved to be the match's lone goal.
California (1-10, 1-5 PSAC) finished with a 10-5 margin in overall shots but each team only recorded two shots on goal in the defensive clash. The Vulcans also managed a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper
Garret Watson made two saves to record his third consecutive shutout in as many conference matches.
Shippensburg travels to No. 22 Millersville on Sunday for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Marauders. Sunday's match will be a pivotal conference showdown, as the Raiders are currently in a three-way tie for fifth place in the league standings (12 points) while the Marauders are in a two-way tie for third place (15 points).
