SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 1-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team clinched a berth in the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament on Tuesday afternoon after posting a 9-2 conference victory over Seton Hill on a sunny fall afternoon from Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (12-2, 7-0 PSAC) got a hat trick from freshman
Jazmin Petrantonio in her return to action, senior
Emily Barnard had two goals and two assists, and freshman
Caitlyn Wink became the fourth player in school history with four assists in a match.

The Raiders built a 6-0 lead by halftime and scored the first goal of the second half before Seton Hill (3-12, 0-7) got on the board off a corner at the 43:44 mark. Petrantonio's third goal made it 8-1 in SU's favor before the Griffins got another tally with 12 minutes remaining. Barnard capped the scoring with 4:39 remaining.

Rebecca Bouyea also got on the board for the Raiders in the contest. Senior
Madison Scarr assisted on Barnard's opening goal just 5:45 into the contest.

Ally Mooney made two saves while patrolling the goal cage in the first half. Senior
Catherine Matuszko played the second half, making three saves in goal.

SU finished with a 25-7 advantage in shots on goal and a 17-8 edge in penalty corners.

The Raiders will be competing in the PSAC Tournament for the 17th time in the last 18 years. With three games remaining in its league schedule, SU holds a half-game lead over second-place Millersville and a two-game lead (and tiebreaker) over third-place East Stroudsburg. At season's end, the top-ranked PSAC team will earn the right to host the conference championships.

Shippensburg hosts Kutztown at noon Saturday in its final regular-season home contest. Before the match, the Raiders will honor 11 seniors. Saturday is also Amanda Strous Memorial Day, and the Raiders will read a tribute at halftime.Â
