SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team scored four goals in the first half and added three more in the final 45 minutes to dispatch visiting California, 7-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) clash from David See Field.

Shippensburg (4-9-1, 3-9 PSAC) posted its largest margin of victory in a conference match in 14 years, as the seven goals scored by the Raiders came from seven different players. Three of them: freshman
Casey Bell, freshman
Drew Anderson and senior
Sofia Perzan, scored their first collegiate goals.

Sophomore
Kelsy Fitzgerald opened the scoring in the 14th minute, hammering home her third goal of the season off the rebound of a close-range shot by senior
Kat Hartner.

Senior
Mallory Patterson made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute, scoring her second goal of the season by finishing off a splendid feed from junior
Beth McGee into an open goal after the Vulcan goalkeeper misjudged the entry.

Sophomore
Izzy Weigel caged her team-leading seventh tally of the year less than four minutes later, ripping a volley into the top right portion of the cage shortly after receiving a pass from Fitzgerald.

Weigel's seven goals this season are the most by a Raider in seven years – Katie Leverentz scored seven goals for Shippensburg in the 2010 season.

SU made it 4-0 at halftime after freshman
Taylor Moore completed a long breakaway up the far side with her third goal of the year, capitalizing off an assist from near midfield by junior
Emily Brown.

Bell made it 5-0 in SU's favor in the 64th minute, corralling a cross from McGee and sending it high over the keeper to get on the scoresheet. Anderson's goal was arguably the prettiest of the day, as she re-directed a cross from sophomore
Anna Middleton into the goal without it hitting the ground. It was also Middleton's first collegiate point.

With just 29 seconds remaining, Perzan got on the scoresheet for the first time by finishing an individual effort in the box with a shot from about five yards out past the keeper.

The Raiders finished a 14-5 edge in shots on goal and a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks while being whistled six times for offsides. Freshman
Delaney Shifflett was credited with five saves in recording her first shutout of the season.

California (3-9-1, 3-8-1 PSAC) got two saves in the first half from keeper Michaela Colon and four saves in the second half from Gianna Sinatra.

Shippensburg travels to Millersville at 5:30 p.m. Sunday from Pucillo Field.
