SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team shot 77 percent from the field in the second half (17-of-22) on Tuesday night to defeat longtime rival Millersville by its largest margin in more than 30 years, 76-46, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (8-5, 3-4 PSAC) and Millersville (4-8, 2-5) were tied 23-23 with 4:05 remaining in the first half before the Raiders closed on an 8-0 run entering the intermission. After an early third-quarter timeout in which MU got within four points, SU countered with a 9-0 run to lead by 13. The Raiders led 52-37 after three quarters and out-scored the Marauders 24-9 in the final frame.
SU scored 45 second-half points and was torrid from the field after halftime, shooting 8-of-12 (66 percent) from the field in the third quarter and 9-of-10 (90 percent) from the field in the fourth quarter. Shippensburg scored 21 points off turnovers and posted a 44-26 advantage in the paint.
Four Raiders posted double figures on the night, and six players overall finished with eight or more points. Senior
Morgan Griffith scored 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting and had nine rebounds. It's the fifth straight game that Griffith has posted double figures and the fourth time in the last five outings that she has had at least nine rebounds.

Lauren Gold scored eight points in limited action.

Victoria Blackburn scored nine points off the bench and collected a team-high three steals. Senior
Haley Scullion scored four points, handed out four assists and had three rebounds. Senior
Chanice Lee also added a bucket off the bench.
Overall, SU shot 64 percent from the field – its second best rate of the season. Millersville shot just 34 percent from the field and became the fourth Raider opponent this season to score less than 50 points in a game. The visitors were led by Shippensburg Area High School graduate Aunjel Van Brakle, who scored a game-high 18 points.
Shippensburg, now on a three-game winning streak, hosts Bloomsburg at 6 p.m. Friday from Heiges Field House.
Notes: SU entered the night ranked second in the PSAC and 15th in NCAA Division II with a .459 field-goal percentage…that rate was enhanced to .472 with Tuesday's performance…SU is now 5-3 this season in games in which it posts a positive assist-to-turnover ratio and 7-2 in games in which it shoots 40 percent or better from the field…SU has now won two-in-a-row in the series after the teams alternated wins and losses in the previous 13 matchups.
