Series History
The Red Raiders are in command of the overall series, leading 50-18-3. The two teams first met in 1929 with Shippensburg earning a 26-6 home victory.
Shippensburg has won 12-in-a-row over the Bald Eagles and has only lost once to Lock Haven over the last 20 years (26-13 in 2002). During SU's current win streak over Lock Haven, the Red Raiders have outscored the Bald Eagles 487-166.
The two teams met in the 2010 season finale with Shippensburg earning a 41-17 road victory in Rocky Rees's last game as the Red Raiders head coach.
In 1999, Shippensburg earned its largest margin of victory over Lock Haven with a 68-7 decision over the Bald Eagles. In 1995, SU earned a 73-29 victory.
Last Week
Shippensburg scored 28 unanswered points and limited the nation's leading rusher to 76 yards, as the Red Raiders opened PSAC Eastern Division play with a 31-14 victory over visiting East Stroudsburg from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. Shippensburg (3-1, 1-0 PSAC East), playing in front of a capacity crowd on Parents & Family Day, held East Stroudsburg (2-2, 0-1) scoreless in the second half – marking the second straight week that a Red Raider opponent was blanked after halftime. SU controlled the ball for 21:12 in the second half, as the Warriors managed just 70 yards after halftime. Of those 70 second-half yards, 40 came on ESU's final drive.
Lock Haven lost at West Chester, 37-7. Caleb Walton threw for 160 yards and one touchdown, surpassing the 7,000-yard career-passing mark. He became just the second LHU quarterback to do so. West Chester held a 16-0 halftime lead, scoring a pair of second-quarter touchdowns. Lock Haven scored its only touchdown of the game early in the fourth quarter when Walton found Shawn Seif for a 29-yard score.
Defensive Returns
The Red Raiders have now allowed just 64 points through four games. It is the fewest points allowed by the SU defense through the first four games of the season since 2004, when the Red Raiders yielded just 44 points during a 4-0 start.
Shippensburg ranks second in the PSAC and 17th in NCAA Division II for scoring defense (16.0). The 55 first downs yielded by the Red Raiders through four games ranks an impressive 10th in the country.
Solid Start
Shippensburg's 3-1 overall record is the team's best start to a season since the 2012 season. SU has won at least two of the first four games in all six seasons under Maciejewski.
