SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team dropped an overtime heartbreaker Saturday to No. 12 West Chester, falling 2-1 to the Golden Rams on a sunny afternoon at David See Field.
Shippensburg (5-4, 3-4 PSAC) and No. 12 West Chester (8-0, 8-0) exchanged first-half chances but neither could breakthrough as they headed into halftime tied, 0-0.
West Chester broke the ice in the 67th minute with a goal from Lexi Brown off an assist from Carmen Telesco.
The Raiders tied the game in dramatic fashion after senior
Ashley Weaver tallied her second goal of the season in the 89th minute off an assist from senior
Casey Rightmyer to force overtime.
Shippensburg came up short in overtime after an unlucky bounce gave West Chester the 2-1 victory.
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper
Leah Roy had her second consecutive stellar outing, recording seven saves in the loss.
Shippensburg will return to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Bloomsburg in a PSAC matchup.
