Lauren Gold scored a season-high 25 points on Friday night and achieved a pair of milestones while senior
Morgan Griffith notched her fourth double-double of the season as the Shippensburg University women's basketball team opened divisional play with a 70-60 victory over Kutztown from Keystone Arena.
Shippensburg (7-5, 2-4 PSAC) and Kutztown (4-10, 1-5) were tied 43-43 after three quarters, but the Raiders got three three-pointers in the fourth quarter from Gold to help pull away. SU out-scored KU 27-17 in the final frame to win its second straight.
Gold's 25 points included 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range. She now has 127 career three-pointers, which moves her past Julie Sutch into 10th on SU's all-time list for the category. Gold also had six assists, which gives her 404 in her career – making her one of four Raiders in history with 400 career assists.
Griffith scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half and also collected 13 rebounds. She shot 6-of-11 from the field and added two assists. Graduate
Stephanie Knauer added 10 points – eight in the second half – to go along with four assists and two rebounds.
The Raiders were 17-of-22 (77 percent) from the free-throw line and hit seven three pointers. SU had 21 assists to just 10 turnovers. SU's defense was strong throughout, especially in the second half. Senior

Haley Scullion were among the notable contributors. Snyder finished with nine points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Shippensburg returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Millersville in a PSAC East contest from Heiges Field House.
