SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team completed the non-conference portion of its schedule Wednesday evening with a 67-44 victory over Philadelphia from Heiges Field House that snapped the team's four-game losing streak.
Shippensburg (6-5) led Philadelphia (8-7) by six points, 44-38, entering the final quarter. SU closed the game by out-scoring the Rams 23-6 in the fourth quarter, shooting 9-of-14 down the stretch while limiting the visitors to just 1-of-10 shooting in the final 10 minutes of play.
The Raiders, playing at home for the first time in 28 days, got points from nine different players in the contest. Senior
Colleen Young had an excellent night, leading all scorers with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Young was 3-of-5 from three-point range and added four rebounds and two assists.
Coming off the bench, senior
Morgan Griffith made the most of her 17 minutes on the floor. Griffith finished with 15 points, getting to the free-throw line nine times (making 7-of-9 attempts). She also had five rebounds and two steals.

Haley Scullion made the most of her second consecutive start, posting eight points, six rebounds and two assists compared to just two turnovers in 30 minutes of action. Graduate
Stephanie Knauer attempted just three shots on the night but led all players with 13 rebounds. Knauer finished with four points, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Senior
Lauren Gold had six assists compared to just two turnovers and scored seven points despite not getting to the free-throw line. Fellow senior
Logan Snyder had nine points, four rebounds and two assists.
Philadelphia was playing its fifth Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent of the season, having lost to East Stroudsburg and Kutztown but having defeated Bloomsburg and West Chester. The Rams got 15 points from Alynna Williams, 11 of which came in the first half. SU's defense held Williams scoreless in the fourth quarter.
SU made the most of its size advantage, out-rebounding Philadelphia by a 44-26 margin. The Raiders also out-scored the Rams in the paint, 36-16, and scored 16 second-chance points.
Shippensburg begins its PSAC Eastern Division schedule at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Kutztown.
