The Shippensburg University women's basketball team had senior

Stephanie Knauer combine for 41 points on Friday night, but the Raiders could not stave off Goldey-Beacom down the stretch in dropping a 74-70 road contest to the Lightning.
Shippensburg (5-5) scored 70 points despite going 3-of-13 from three-point range. Griffith led the Raiders with 21 points and 12 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double and third overall this season, shooting 10-of-16 from two-point range but 0-for-5 from three-point range. She also had four assists and two steals.
Knauer had 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting and a 4-of-5 performance at the free-throw line. She added six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Goldey-Beacom (8-5) won its seventh straight game behind a career-high 38 points from junior guard Lexi Bruno, who was 13-of-23 from the floor, 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. Bruno also had seven assists and six rebounds, and was the only member of the Lightning to post double figures in scoring.
Shippensburg was limited to just 10 points in the final eight minutes of play, but the Raiders did win the third quarter (20-16) for the first time in five road games this season. Friday night's contest marked the end of a four-game road trip for the Raiders that began December 3 at IUP.
Early on, senior
Haley Scullion made an "and-1" with two seconds left in the first quarter to begin an 8-0 run in 45 seconds of play. The Raiders led 22-13 less than a minute into the second quarter, but the host Lightning scored 26 points in the final 7:49 of the frame to lead by two at halftime, 39-37.
After a Bruno three-pointer at the start of the third quarter, SU went on another 8-0 run to grab a three-point lead, 45-42. In total, the Raiders totaled a 16-4 run to lead by as many as seven points in the frame, 53-46. Goldey-Beacom got within one point at the end of the third quarter, but the Raiders again stretched their lead to seven points with 8:37 to go.
The Lightning countered with a 9-2 run to tie the score with 4:08 remaining, and then Bruno hit her fourth three-pointer of the night with 2:21 remaining to tie the game for the seventh time. SU's only field goal down the stretch was a three-pointer by senior
Lauren Gold but it came with 15 seconds remaining and the team down by four points at the time.
Gold finished with eight points, three assists and three rebounds – she only attempted two free throws on the night. Scullion had seven points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks in her first start of the season, while senior
Colleen Young had eight points and three assists in 25 minutes off the bench. Senior
Logan Snyder had six points, four rebounds and four assists.
Shippensburg returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28 with a home game against Philadelphia from Heiges Field House. It is SU's only home game in a 33-day stretch.
