The Shippensburg University women's basketball team fell on the road to No. 3 California, 78-56, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover matchup in the Convocation Center.
Shippensburg (5-4, 1-4 PSAC) got off to a hot start, scoring 18 points in the first quarter to take a one-point advantage over California (10-0, 5-0) after one quarter of play. Senior
Morgan Griffith paced the Raiders with nine first-quarter points.
The Vulcans flipped the script in the second quarter outscoring the Raiders, 23-15, to take a seven-point lead into half time. The Raiders finished the first half shooting 11-of-21 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the free throw line.
California opened the second half on a 13-3 run that proved to be the demise of the Raiders. Miki Glenn scored a game-high 20 points in the Vulcan victory.
The Raiders had four players score in double figures including Griffith, who recorded her second double-double of the year with a team-high 13 points and 11 rebounds. Graduate
Stephanie Knauer added 12 points while grabbing six rebounds.

Logan Snyder each added 11 points for the Raiders. Snyder also finished with four steals on the afternoon.
Shippensburg will return to action Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to Goldey-Beacom.
