SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team shut out Mercyhurst on Saturday, 2-0, in a crucial Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on a damp and dreary afternoon at David See Field.
 
Shippensburg (8-5, 6-5 PSAC) and Mercyhurst (6-5-1, 5-5-1) exchanged first-half chances but neither team could break through in the first 45 minutes, and the game was tied at 0-0 heading into the break.
 
The Raiders got on the board with a header from senior Casey Rightmyer off a free kick from senior Stephanie Allshouse in the 56th minute.
 
Shippensburg secured the victory after senior Ashley Weaver netted her team-leading fifth goal on a perfect pass from junior Kat Hartner in the 66th minute.
 
Junior goalkeeper Leah Roy recorded her fourth shutout of the year after making two saves in the victory.
 
Shippensburg will return to action Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Millersville.
