Women’s Soccer Drops Pivotal PSAC Road Match at Lock Haven, 3-1

Weaver scores sixth goal of year, but Raiders yield three second-half goals

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team yielded three second-half goals on Tuesday afternoon, falling to Lock Haven by a 3-1 margin in a pivotal Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest from the Stern Complex.

Shippensburg (10-7, 8-7 PSAC) and Lock Haven (6-10, 5-10) combined for just one shot on goal in the first half, but the teams exploded for four tallies in the second half.

The Raiders fell behind, 2-0, but got within one on the sixth goal of the season by senior Ashley Weaver. The hosts answered seven minutes later and did not allow Shippensburg to fire a shot the rest of the way.

Junior Leah Roy made one save in the first half before being relieved by junior Kayla Kennedy, who also finished with one save.

SU posted a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks, while LHU had a 5-2 edge in shots on goal.

Shippensburg will conclude its regular season at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at IUP.

PSAC Playoff Scenarios
[not yet official, waiting for confirmation from PSAC]

SHIP (24), IUP (24), BLOOM (23) are vying for the final two playoff spots. SHIP plays IUP. BLOOM plays CLARION.

Bloom is eliminated with a loss.

If someone wins SHIP vs. IUP, that winner clinches a spot.

If someone wins SHIP vs. IUP, Bloom can then clinch the No. 8 seed with a win at Clarion. The loser of SHIP vs. IUP would be eliminated.

If IUP beats SHIP, and Bloomsburg ties Clarion, SHIP gets No. 8 seed (both with 24 points, SHIP has head to head over BLOOM).

If SHIP beats IUP, and Bloomsburg ties Clarion, Bloomsburg gets No. 8 seed (both with 24 points, BLOOM has head to head over IUP).

IF SHIP and IUP tie, and Bloomsburg wins, then Bloom gets the No. 7 seed, and IUP gets the No. 8 seed.
[the SHIP and IUP tiebreaker would come down to record against the top of the division down – the #2-5 seeds are not yet determined, but among possible high seeds, KUTZ and ESU both beat IUP & SHIP, but IUP beat BORO. SHIP beat ROCK, but ROCK can at best, get to 34 points (tying BORO), and BORO has head to head over ROCK – which would put BORO above ROCK in the standings to give IUP the tiebreaker]
