COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Shippensburg University women's field hockey team started quickly Saturday in a season-opening 6-1 win over Saint Michael's College at Duffy Field as part of the 2015 Doubletree Fall Classic.
Shippensburg (1-0) had six different players score goals, starting with junior
Cassie Rawa's tally less than nine minutes in. The goals kept coming for the Raiders as junior
Suzanne Muller scored on a penalty stroke in the 12
th minute.
The Raiders then snuck two more goals in before half as sophomore
Madison Scarr and sophomore Emily Bernard both scored with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.
Freshman
Isabelle Becker notched her first career goal off a feed from senior
Molly Stuart that made it 5-1, Raiders. Stuart then capped the scoring with a goal of her own in the 55th minute.
Shippensburg outshot the Purple Knights 29-10 on the afternoon. Raider senior goalkeeper

Shippensburg will play again Sunday at Saint Michael's College against Southern Connecticut, beginning at 11 a.m.
