Women’s Soccer Drops Road Conference Match at West Chester, 2-0

SU allows two second half goals in loss to the Rams

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team struggled to create scoring chances in a 2-0 loss Saturday at West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup.

Through seven conference games this season, Shippensburg (3-4-1, 2-4-1 PSAC) has faced the top six finishers in the 2014 PSAC standings.

The Raiders managed just six shots, including three on goal, in the road match Saturday. However, the Raider defense held West Chester scoreless through the first half.

West Chester (6-2, 6-2) took the lead in the 63rd minute on a goal by Marissa Valenti. The Golden Rams extended their lead on a goal almost exactly 10 minutes later by Kara Parvel.

The Rams finished with eight corner kicks to Shippensburg's four. Three different Raiders had a shot on goal.

In her first start of the season, sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Kennedy made nine saves.

Shippensburg hosts Bloomsburg at 4 p.m. Tuesday in a PSAC matchup at David See Field.
