Liz Parkins tossed a five-inning no-hitter in Game 1 Saturday as the Shippensburg University softball team swept Mansfield, 9-0 in the opener, and 11-5 in the nightcap, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader from Hellen Lutes Field. Despite the sweep, SU was eliminated from playoff contention.

Shippensburg (17-18, 12-16 PSAC East) scored at least one run in all five innings in the opener and Mansfield (11-23-1, 6-20) was unable to manage a hit.

For Parkins, the five-inning no-hitter was her first of any variety in her career.

Chloe Collins each hit two-run home runs in Game 1 while senior
Tyler Thompson hit 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and scored two runs.

Thompson finished the afternoon 5-for-7 with four runs, one RBI, a double and five stolen bases. She ends her career as the all-time stolen base leader in SU history with 97 steals, third-most in PSAC history.

Maddie Justice went 5-for-7 with four RBIs, a double, a walk and two runs. Senior
Taylor Weisman went 3-for-6 with two doubles, two runs, one RBI and one walk.

In Game 2, the Raiders led 4-2 after three innings, but Mansfield tied it up at 5-5 in the fifth inning after SU had scored one run in the top half of the frame.

Makenzie Lynn plated the eventual game-winning runs on a two-run home run to center field. She finished 2-for-2 at the plate in the nightcap while picking up the win in the circle, pitching four innings and striking out four batters.

Giovenco homered in the third inning of Game 2, a three-run shot, her second home run of the day and fifth of the season.

Eryn Caragein finished the afternoon 2-for-3 with a run, walk and stolen base while junior
Taylor Pattillo went 3-for-7 with a double and a run.

As a team, SU hit .441 on the day and held Mansfield to a .167 average.
