The Shippensburg University softball team dropped a pair of hard-fought road games Monday, falling 3-1 and 9-5 at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division rivals Bloomsburg on a sunny afternoon at Jan Hutchinson Field.

Shippensburg (10-13, 5-11 PSAC East) held a 1-0 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning in Game 1 before Bloomsburg (14-8, 9-3) rallied for three runs and the win. In Game 2, SU trailed by five runs entering the seventh but got the tying run to the plate before the final out was recorded.

Senior shortstop Taylor Weisman delivered an RBI-double in Game 1 and a solo home run in Game 2, finishing the day with three hits, two RBIs and a walk.

Senior right fielder Liz Parkins hit two home runs in Game 2; she also had two hits in the opening game. SU totaled 13 hits combined between the two games.

Senior Maddie Justice had two hits in the opener, while senior Tyler Thompson reached base three times on the day.

Senior Makenzie Lynn threw well in the opener. She did not allow a run in the first five innings of Game 1 and finished by giving up two earned runs on six hits in 5.1 innings while striking out a season-high nine hitters.

Junior Quincy Lewis pitched in both games, totaling 3.2 innings of work. Freshman Chloe Collins started Game 2, while sophomore Casey Thompson worked in relief.

Bloomsburg had four three-run innings on the day, one in Game 1 and three in Game 2. The Huskies had three home runs and three doubles among their 22 hits in the doubleheader. Three Huskies pitchers combined to strikeout 23 Raiders between the two games.
