The Shippensburg University lacrosse team raced out to a 9-2 lead at halftime on Tuesday, using its early advantage and 13 saves from junior goalkeeper
Ally Frymoyer to hold off home-standing Kutztown, 12-10, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) showdown at Andre Reed Stadium.

Shippensburg (3-7, 1-4 PSAC) held Kutztown (1-7, 0-5) scoreless for the first 17 minutes of play, leading 4-0 before the Golden Bears got on the board.

Trailing 10-2 in the second half, KU reeled off seven of the next eight goals in a 15-minute span to get within two goals of the lead with 9:58 to go, but would not get closer than the final two-goal margin.

Frymoyer made 13 saves – including eight in the first half – for her fourth double-digit save effort of the season.

Sheila Johnson scored four times, bringing her team-leading total to 27 goals in 10 games. Johnson is among the PSAC's Top 5 goal scorers this season.

Amanda Frank had a goal and five assists. Frank leads the team with 14 assists this season.

Ali Harclerode had three caused turnovers along with a goal, an assist, a draw control and two groundball pickups.

Annemarie Cericola; she had a goal, two assists, two caused turnovers, two groundballs and a draw control. Freshman
Makenzie Magnotta, a fellow backliner, led the team with four groundballs, while freshman
Julia Wise had three.
