The Shippensburg University softball team played its first true road games Sunday, dropping a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division games at Millersville by scores of 4-1 and 6-2.
Shippensburg (8-7, 3-5 PSAC) could not get its bats going on Sunday, managing just nine hits on the day with just one going for extra bases. Millersville (10-11, 2-4) had a pair of three-run innings in the nightcap and scored in four different innings in Game 1.
SU's lone run in the opener came on an RBI-single by
Maddie Justice that plated
Taylor Llewellyn, who doubled. Justice had a single and three walks in Game 2, with Llewellyn providing both RBIs in the nightcap on a two-out single in the sixth.
Makenzie Lynn took the loss in Game 1, allowing four runs (three earned) in 5.1 innings, striking out four.
Chloe Collins got the final two outs in Game 1 and started Game 2, ultimately taking the loss in the nightcap by yielding three runs on two hits in 3.1 innings.
Shippensburg is next in action on Tuesday with a 2:30 p.m. home doubleheader against Lock Haven at Robb Field. Rain is in the forecast, however, so keep an eye on shipraiders.com for any potential changes.
