Softball Drops Pair of PSAC East Games to East Stroudsburg, 7-4 and 9-3

SU scores seven runs but yields 26 hits to visiting Warriors

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team dropped a pair of home divisional games Tuesday to East Stroudsburg, falling 7-4 and 9-3 on a cold, mostly overcast afternoon at Robb Field.

Shippensburg (6-5, 1-3 PSAC East) fell behind early in both games and never could establish a rhythm against an East Stroudsburg (9-4, 2-0) squad that cranked out 26 hits on the day against five Raider pitchers.

At the plate, senior Maddie Justice reached base five times between the two games, contributing three singles and walking twice. Senior Taylor Weisman and freshman Tara Bicko homered in Game 2, while junior Taylor Pattillo had two hits (including a triple) and a walk.

ESU swept Shippensburg for just the third time in the last 50 doubleheaders between the two teams. Warrior leadoff batter Mary Wallick was 5-for-5 in Game 2 with three runs and three stolen bases and homered to lead off Game 1. Designated player Sierra Wagner had five hits and five RBIs.

Shippensburg is back in action Friday with a PSAC East home doubleheader against No. 21 West Chester at Robb Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The Golden Rams enter their Wednesday doubleheader with Philadelphia having not allowed a run in their last 30 innings.
