Marcinko hits two solo home runs, Allison adds two RBIs and two singles

Junior Mike Marcinko hit a pair of solo home runs Tuesday night and junior Austin Allison had two RBIs as the Shippensburg University baseball team dropped a 12-4 decision at No. 28 Catawba.

Shippensburg (3-8) got a leadoff home run from Marcinko, but the home team countered with 10 runs in the first two innings. Senior Nick Massetti was chased in the second inning, with freshman Gabe Mosser entering in relief and striking out four in 3.2 innings. Junior Thomas Swartz and freshman Andy Crum also worked out of the bullpen for the Raiders.

Marcinko finished the game 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs and a stolen base. Allison was 2-for-4; he was 6-for-8 on the day when including his four-hit effort against Wingate earlier in the afternoon.

Catawba (16-4) has now won 14 of its last 15 games. Catawba's Blake Houston, the reigning SAC Player of the Week, was 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot with a double, RBI, walk and two runs.
