MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team outscored Millersville by 18 points in the second half and sophomore
Logan Snyder scored a game-high 17 points on Wednesday in a 64-50 victory inside Pucillo Gymnasium.
Shippensburg (17-9, 13-7 PSAC) exploded for 41 points and limited Millersville (11-15, 8-13) to 23 points in the second half after scoring just 23 points and shooting 27.6 percent in the opening frame. A back-and-forth affair for the majority of the evening, a 28-15 SU run over the final 11 minutes helped secure a win and hand Millersville its 11th loss in its last 12 games.
The Raiders held a major advantage at the free-throw line. SU shot 27-of-35 (77.1 percent) and limited the Marauders to 0-of-7 from the charity stripe. Shippensburg opponents have had at least one made free throw in every game since Stat Crew software started being used in 1998-99.
Snyder finished shooting 7-of-14 from the field while recording four rebounds and three assists. She has now scored in double figures in eight straight contests and shot at least 50 percent in seven of the last nine games.
The Raiders improve to 13-0 in games when they hold opponents under 60 points.
Sophomore
Morgan Griffith recorded her 12th double-double of the season (third consecutive) with 14 points and 10 rebounds. She was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line.
Shippensburg earned its second-straight victory after trailing at halftime after going 0-for-7 in such contests entering Saturday.
Sophomore
Lauren Gold scored 12 points, was 9-of-10 at the free-throw line and had three steals.
Junior
Stephanie Knauer had nine points and eight rebounds while sophomore
Colleen Young totaled five points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Shippensburg held a 43-39 advantage on the glass and forced 16 Marauder turnovers compared to just 10 for the Raiders. Entering the contest, each team ranked in the Top 3 in rebounding in the PSAC.
Shippensburg travels to Lock Haven on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip at Thomas Field House before returning home next Wednesday for its regular season finale.
