Men’s Soccer Gets Back in the Win Column, Defeating Seton Hill, 2-1

SU gets goals from Ballard and Furfaro; Harder makes career-high eight saves

The Shippensburg University men's soccer team notched its second victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Wednesday with a 2-1 road win at Seton Hill on a sunny afternoon at Dick's Field in Greensburg.

Shippensburg (5-6, 2-5 PSAC) and Seton Hill (3-7, 1-4) were scoreless at the half despite the home-standing Griffins achieving an 11-3 edge in shots. For the match, Seton Hill outshot the Raiders 21-11, with redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Matt Harder making a career-high eight saves in the victory.

Junior Jeff Ballard opened the scoring in the 52nd minute – notching his second goal of the year by converting a rebound off an initial shot by senior James Connor.

In the 77th minute, junior Robert Furfaro scored his team-leading fifth goal of the year off a feed from sophomore Colten Arnold.

The Griffins did manage a goal with 2:14 to play, scoring off a rebound, but SU prevented them from getting the equalizer. Harder was credited with a save on the final shot of the game with 1:03 to go.

Shippensburg is at Mercyhurst on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. matchup with the Lakers.
