SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team couldn't find any momentum Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) road loss to California (Pa.), 4-0, at the Phillipsburg Complex.
Shippensburg (7-8, 3-7 PSAC) was eliminated from the PSAC playoff picture following the loss.
The Raiders matched Cal in shots on goal – both teams finished with eight – and the Raiders held the edge in corner kicks with six to the Vulcans' four.
Both sophomore
Colten Arnold and senior
James Connor recorded three shots on goal for SU.
However, California (8-6-1, 5-4-1) scored twice in a span of 71 seconds in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. The Vulcans added insurance in the 44th and 73rd minute. The first of those two came on a penalty kick 15 seconds before halftime.
Redshirt-freshman
Matt Harder made four saves in the defeat.
Saturday's loss ends a streak of 19 straight SU setbacks that came by just one goal.
SU will conclude its season Saturday as it hosts Bloomsburg at 2:30 p.m. for Senior Day.
