SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team ended its season Saturday with a tough 2-1 loss to Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match at David See Field.
Shippensburg (7-9, 3-8 PSAC) fell behind early, allowing a goal in the eighth minute and the 23rd minute. However, SU continued to try and chip away at the Bloomsburg defense in what was a physical match that included 29 combined fouls.
SU came within a goal in the 83rd minute when junior
Collin McConnell scrapped to get a shot on net that was saved by the Bloomsburg keeper.
Junior
Robert Furfaro was on the spot to fire the rebound past multiple Husky defenders trying to protect the goal with the keeper on the ground. The goal was Furfaro's team-high seventh of the season.
Despite plenty of effort from the Raiders late, including a corner kick within the final 10 seconds, SU could not equalize.
Junior
Evan Raimist made four saves in his fourth start of the season.
Raimist, Furfaro and
Colten Arnold were all honored in the Senior Day ceremonies as they are set to graduate in this academic year. However, all three hope to use their remaining athletic eligibility next fall as graduate students.
The contest marked the final game for seniors
Derek Adams,
Brooke Moyer and
James Connor.
