Women’s Soccer Scores Early and Often in Lopsided Win at Lincoln

SU gets goals from six different players in 8-1 road victory

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team scored five times in the first 30 minutes of play Wednesday en route to an 8-1 road victory at Lincoln in a non-conference contest.

Shippensburg (8-6-1) got a goal in the fifth minute from junior Ashley Weaver and another in the ninth minute from junior Casey Rightmyer off an assist from sophomore Kat Hartner. Freshman Katie Rauch notched her second career goal in the 20th minute to make it 3-0.

Senior Caitlin Sheehan and junior Sharon Juarez each scored twice on the day – Juarez scored her first less than three minutes after Rauch, and Sheehan then scored the next two tallies to make it 6-0 by the half.

Juarez scored again in the second half, and junior Danielle Nauman scored her first collegiate goal to round out the scoring. Freshmen Lauren Krenzke and Beth McGee each achieved their first collegiate points – Krenzke had two assists and McGee has one. Krenzke's assists both came off corner kicks.

Lincoln (2-11) did not use any substitutes but did manage a goal in the 68th minute of play.

Shippensburg returns to conference play this weekend, hosting Mansfield at 1 p.m. Saturday at David See Field.
