The Shippensburg University women's soccer team scored five times in the first 30 minutes of play Wednesday en route to an 8-1 road victory at Lincoln in a non-conference contest.
Shippensburg (8-6-1) got a goal in the fifth minute from junior
Ashley Weaver and another in the ninth minute from junior
Casey Rightmyer off an assist from sophomore
Kat Hartner. Freshman
Katie Rauch notched her second career goal in the 20th minute to make it 3-0.
Senior
Caitlin Sheehan and junior
Sharon Juarez each scored twice on the day – Juarez scored her first less than three minutes after Rauch, and Sheehan then scored the next two tallies to make it 6-0 by the half.
Juarez scored again in the second half, and junior
Danielle Nauman scored her first collegiate goal to round out the scoring. Freshmen
Lauren Krenzke and
Beth McGee each achieved their first collegiate points – Krenzke had two assists and McGee has one. Krenzke's assists both came off corner kicks.
Lincoln (2-11) did not use any substitutes but did manage a goal in the 68th minute of play.
Shippensburg returns to conference play this weekend, hosting Mansfield at 1 p.m. Saturday at David See Field.
