The No. 2 Shippensburg University field hockey out-lasted Saint Michael's on Saturday, battling to a 1-0 victory in the first match of the Dora Metrelis Classic from Jess Dow Field on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University.

The Raiders managed a 25-0 advantage in shots and 17-0 advantage in penalty corners but only found the back of the cage one time against the Purple Knights. SMC goalkeeper Sarah Healey made 11 saves, while defenders Shannon Rice and Hannah Beardsley were each credited with two defensive saves.
