The Shippensburg University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 road contest to Slippery Rock on Saturday afternoon from James Egli Field.
It was a physical contest between Shippensburg (3-3-1, 1-1 PSAC) and Slippery Rock (4-3, 2-1) as the two teams combined for nine cards – seven yellow and two red.
SU fell behind early when The Rock's Stephen Donnelly capitalized off a free kick that was just outside the box.
The Raiders answered with an unassisted goal just before halftime off the foot of senior
Gregg Whitcomb.
Slippery Rock netted the eventual game winner, six minutes into the second half. SRU's Peter Boylan finished off a pass that came in front of SU sophomore goalie
Evan Raimist.
Raimist finished the afternoon with four saves.
Sophomore
Robert Furfaro led the Raiders with four shots and a season-high three shots on goal.
Junior
Miguel Lugo tallied two shots, one that was on goal.
Four other Raiders each recorded a shot on goal against Slippery Rock.
The Raiders will host Mercyhurst at 3:30 p.m. Friday from David See Field.
