BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University field hockey team extended its winning streak to four matches Saturday, using crisp passing and an aggressive offense to achieve a 3-0 road victory over Bloomsburg at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Â
Shippensburg (6-1, 4-1 PSAC) opened the scoring at the 16-minute mark when senior
Tori Ricker nudged in a ball at the left corner of the box after it was touched by sophomore
Kendall Beck.
Â
It was Ricker's team-leading seventh goal and marked the third time this season that she has opened the scoring in a game.
Â
SU took a 2-0 lead into halftime after adding another tally at 24:14. Freshman
Emily Barnard tipped in a long entry feed that came in from outside the scoring arc.
Â
Barnard provided the only scoring of the second half by deflecting in a long feed from well outside the scoring arc sent in by senior
Lucy Kauffman.
Â
Freshman
Ally Mooney got the win in goal, making two saves in just less than 65 minutes. Junior
Taylor Webster came in for the final five-plus minutes and was busy, making five saves. Webster thwarted several attempts by Bloomsburg on a pair of untimed penalty corners at the end of the game.
