SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The No. 2 Shippensburg University field hockey team was paced offensively by sophomore
Kendall Beck on Saturday morning, as she scored a career-best two goals in a 3-0 victory over IUP from Robb Sports Complex.
The Raiders (7-1, 5-1 PSAC) got on the board in the ninth minute when Beck finished on a delivery from senior
Tori Ricker. Her second goal came in the 26th minute after a three-on-two break in which freshman
Lizzie Frombach served up a well-placed pass for Beck to send home.
Ricker capped off the scoring for SU in the 45th minute after she tipped in a pass from sophomore
Suzanne Muller. She positioned herself near the goal line on the left side of the cage and was able to anticipate the accurate pass and send it into the back of the goal.
The Crimson Hawks (3-5, 2-4 PSAC) limited SU to eight shots in the contest, which is about half of its average as the Raiders entered the match averaging just over 16 shots per game.
Freshman
Ally Mooney recorded two saves in her second shutout of the season.
The Raiders will take on Limestone Sunday at 1 p.m. from Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md.
