A golden goal from freshman
Jenny Litz lifted the Shippensburg University women's soccer team over Kutztown, 1-0 on a cool and sunny Saturday evening from David See Field.
The goal came just four minutes into overtime when Litz powered a shot from 18 yards out over the head and out-reached arms of the Kutztown goalkeeper.
Despite the 26 combined shots, it was a defensive battle Saturday as each team struggled to create quality chances.
The Raiders (1-1-1, 1-1-1 PSAC) registered just four shots in the first half and three corner kicks while the Golden Bears (2-2, 1-1 PSAC) tallied the only shot on goal in the first half in the 17th minute.
In the second half each team took nine shots, however, just five were on target.
Senior
Brooke Clippinger recorded two shots on goal while sophomore
Stephanie Allshouse and junior
Kaila Dautrich tallied one shot on goal apiece.
Freshman
Kayla Kennedy made three saves as she recorded her second shutout of the season.
SU hosts Mansfield on Tuesday at 4 p.m. from David See Field.
