SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Shippensburg University tennis team opened its 2014 fall, non-championship season on a warm Thursday evening at the Robb Sports Complex Tennis Courts with a 9-0 loss to undefeated Philadelphia University.

Six players made their Raider debuts in Thursday's match. Emily Cox, a junior transfer, teamed with senior Julia Saintz at No. 1 doubles and competed individually at No. 2 singles. Freshman Christine Devine partnered with sophomore Emilie Luttman at No. 2 doubles and also competed individually at No. 3 singles.

Freshmen Sarah Kramer and Josie Petracci partnered at No. 3 doubles and won a game in their match. Petracci competed individually at No. 4 singles. Samantha Eisele won two games in her match at No. 6 singles and also competed in an exhibition doubles match with Sierra Pena.

Saintz won two games in her No. 1 singles match, as did Luttman at No. 5 singles.

This weekend, Saintz and Cox will represent the Raiders at the 2014 PSAC Individual Championships hosted by West Chester University.
