The Shippensburg University tennis team opened its PSAC Eastern Division schedule on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 loss to the Golden Bears of Kutztown in a road match at the Keystone Tennis Courts.
 
Junior Julia Saintz won her match at No. 2 singles, defeating Kutztown's Tori Zander by 6-4, 6-1 scores.
 
Junior Katie Shearer took the opening set at No. 4 singles, 6-2, but dropped the second set and fell 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
 
At No. 6 singles, freshman Emilie Luttman dropped the first set but rallied to win the second set, 6-1, before dropping the tiebreaker, 10-5.
 
Shearer and Luttman also won five points at No. 3 doubles.
 
Shippensburg is scheduled to host Cheyney at 4 p.m. tomorrow, weather permitting.
