The Shippensburg University softball team totaled 21 hits in its second-straight PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader on Friday afternoon, but the Raiders split with conference foe East Stroudsburg, winning the opener, 4-2, before dropping the nightcap, 5-1, at Zimbar Field.
Shippensburg (25-9, 11-7 PSAC East) got four hits Friday from junior
Jessie Trammell and senior
Hilary Lyons, with both women providing two hits in each game. Trammell extended her hitting streak to a career-long seven games, delivering a double and two RBIs in the opener. Lyons, also on a seven-game hitting streak, scored a run in each game and had a stolen base in the nightcap.
Lyons became the second Raider this week and third this season to surpass the 100-career hit plateau, as she now has 103 for her career. Junior
Maddie Justice reached the milestone Monday versus Kutztown and also has 103 hits in her career.

Taylor Weisman and sophomore
Taylor Pattillo contributed three hits on the day, with Pattillo driving in the lone run of the nightcap with a two-out single in the seventh inning. Weisman had an RBI-single in the first inning of the opener, while Justice had one of her own in the sixth to put the Raiders in the lead. Justice extended her career-long hitting streak to nine games.
Senior
Emily Estep threw her 12
th complete game of the year for the Game 1 victory, improving to 15-1 this season and matching her career high for single-season victories. Estep was touched up for two runs in the fifth inning but was scoreless otherwise, finishing with five strikeouts and not allowing a hit in the final two innings.
Junior
Makenzie Lynn took the loss in Game 2 but allowed just two earned runs in six innings, striking out one. East Stroudsburg (11-20, 6-10) extended a 2-0 lead in the sixth with three unearned runs, as SU was charged with four errors in the second game.
Both teams also left a significant amount of runners on the base paths in Friday's doubleheader. Shippensburg stranded 22 runners, including 12 in the opener, while East Stroudsburg left 17 on base, including nine in the nightcap.
Shippensburg, the No. 3 team in the NCAA Atlantic Region Rankings, hosts West Chester, the No. 4 team in the NCAA Atlantic Region Rankings, at 1 p.m. It will be "Strike Out Breast Cancer" Day, as the Raiders will have a drawing for a pink bat signed by the team and also collect donations. All proceeds will be given to charity.
