Kayla Dalzell to begin its 2014 season with a 14-11 road victory at Shepherd from Ram Stadium.
Shippensburg (1-0) opened the game with a six-goal run, including a hat trick by Dalzell, and kept the Rams off the scoreboard for the first 21 minutes of the contest. Shepherd (3-1) responded with five of the final six goals of the first half to trim its deficit to 7-5 at halftime before exchanging tallies with the Raiders in the first three minutes of the second half.
The Raiders then responded with five consecutive goals to build a 13-6 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining but had to hold off a late charge by the Rams, who scored five times in the final nine-and-a-half minutes.
Dalzell had scored three goals twice in her career prior to Wednesday's game. Four other Raiders netted multiple goals in the game, as senior

Bennett Widlake and freshman
Annemarie Cericola each scored twice.
Krok totaled a career-high five points in Wednesday's game, contributing assists on SU's third, ninth and 12th goals of the contest. Her three assists are a single-game career high, while her two tallies mark her third career game with multiple goals.Â

SU will host Merrimack at noon Sunday from Robb Sports Complex. The Warriors will play Grand Valley State on Thursday and defeated Findlay in their season opener, 16-15 in triple overtime.
