SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 11-ranked Shippensburg University baseball team split a PSAC East double header against East Stroudsburg Monday afternoon from Fairchild Field, dropping the opener 7-4 before earning a hard-fought 7-6 victory in eight innings over the Warriors in a battle of two of the Top 3 teams in the NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll.

Shippensburg (17-4, 5-1 PSAC East) was down to its final out in each of its final two at-bats in Game 2 before rallying on both occasions and ultimately winning in extra innings. Down to its final strike and trailing by two runs in the eighth, junior Cody Ezolt launched a two-run homer over the left-center field fence – his second round tripper of Game 2 – that ignited a decisive rally.

Ezolt had 10 total bases in the nightcap -- the most by a Raider in a single game since Cody Kulp had 10 on April 5, 2009 at ESU (Kulp was 5-for-5 with two doubles, two singles and a homer) -- and became the second Raider this season to homer twice in a game (Pat Kregeloh on Feb. 23 at Belmont Abbey).

After Ezolt's second home run, junior Austin Allison put down a nice drag bunt to reach first. A passed ball moved him to second base, and freshman Ryan McMillen singled into left-center field for the walk-off win.

Allison scored a team-high four runs on the day as he went 4-for-7 from the plate including an RBI in the bottom of the seventh in game two. He now boasts a seven-game hitting streak. Allison, Ezolt and Kregeloh were the only Raiders to record at least one hit in each game.

Sophomore Mike Marcinko, whose single in Game 2 tied the score with two outs in the seventh inning, went 3-for-7 with a double and a walk. Senior Michael Douglas led off the bottom of Game 1 with a homer and went on to score twice and steal a base. Junior Jimmy Spanos had two hits and two RBIs.

SU got solid outings from both of its starters as sophomore Marcus Shippey threw six innings in the opener, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking just one. Kregeloh tossed seven innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits while matching his career-high with 10 strikeouts. On the day, SU pitchers totaled 18 strikeouts in 15.0 innings.

East Stroudsburg (16-7, 2-4) was paced offensively by senior Nico Delerme who went 3-for-6 on the day with a home run and four RBIs.

Shippensburg will now host Bloomsburg Tuesday in a 1 p.m. doubleheader from Fairchild Field. SU will travel to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday to makeup the other twinbill with the Warriors.
