Women’s Basketball Extends Win Streak to Four Games by Defeating East Stroudsburg, 61-53

SU shoots 27-of-33 from the free-throw line; Snyder leads Raiders with 14 points

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team had four players post double figures Wednesday night en route to a 61-53 victory over PSAC East opponent East Stroudsburg inside Heiges Field House, extending its winning streak to four games.

Shippensburg (5-2, 1-1 PSAC) made the most of its trips to the free-throw line. SU converted its first six free throws and finished the game 27-of-33 from the foul line.

Sophomore Lauren Gold was a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe and finished the night with 12 points and six rebounds.

East Stroudsburg (2-3, 1-2) managed just nine free-throw attempts in Wednesday's game, converting six.

Sophomore Logan Snyder led the Raiders with 14 points, marking the first time in her career that she led the team in scoring.

The first half, which included 10 turnovers from each team, was salvaged by an 11-2 SU run. It stretched just under six minutes and propelled the Raiders ahead, 25-21. SU led 29-28 at the intermission.

The second half featured the two teams trading points until SU strung together an integral series of plays. Neither team had scored more than 45 points with five minutes to play. With 4:23 left, sophomore Morgan Griffith converted two free throws before stealing the ensuing Warrior in-bounds pass. Griffith dished the steal to Snyder, who laid it up-and-in to propel the Raiders ahead by eight.

It was a pivotal sequence that keyed another 11-2 run for the Raiders, giving SU a 54-43 lead with 2:49 to play. SU closed the game by making 12-of-14 free throws down the stretch.

Griffith finished the night with 10 points and seven rebounds while going 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Junior Stephanie Knauer tallied 10 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Colleen Young led Shippensburg on the glass, notching a career-high eight rebounds.
