LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – A 17-point second half from sophomore Stephanie Knauer on Wednesday night highlighted an impressive final 20 minutes for the Shippensburg University women's basketball team as it fought back from an early nine-point second-half deficit to earn a 69-61 win over Lock Haven from Thomas Fieldhouse.

The Raiders (12-7, 6-3 PSAC East) completed the season sweep of divisional newcomer Lock Haven (4-15, 2-7) by rallying on the back of Knauer, who finished with a game-high 21 points after just four in the first half and shot 9-of-11 from the field overall.

Freshman Lauren Gold (10-of-11 free-throw shooting) and senior Sarah Strybuc (7-of-15 field-goal shooting) each scored 16 points as Knauer and Gold (three assists) each pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Lock Haven extended its 34-29 halftime lead to as many as nine points a minute into the second half before the Raiders slowly chipped away, beginning with an 11-4 run and later a dominant 20-2 run over 7:20 that included 11 Knauer points and gave SU a 60-49 lead with under five minutes left.

After six consecutive Lock Haven points, SU freshman Logan Snyder – who made her third career start and her first of the new year – banked in a pair of clutch lay-ups on back-to-back possessions in the final two minutes and Shippensburg made five free throws in the final 50 seconds to hold off the Bald Eagles and secure the eight-point victory.

Lock Haven won the rebounding battle by a 39-32 margin largely by forcing the PSAC's sixth-leading rebounder, Morgan Griffith, into foul trouble as the SU freshman totaled just three rebounds and zero points in 18 minutes of action.

SU raced out to a 15-3 lead seven minutes into the game but the Bald Eagles answered with an 11-3 run to make the score 18-14 at the under-eight-minute media timeout of the first half. After a baseline jumper courtesy of freshman Haley Scullion and a Knauer layup that pushed the SU lead back up to eight, Lock Haven responded with a 16-1 run that opened up a 30-23 lead for the hosts with three minutes left before halftime.

Shippensburg returns home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. PSAC East contest against Cheyney during the annual "Play 4 Kay" event from Heiges Field House. All fans wearing pink will receive free admission while the first 400 fans wearing pink will receive free Raider sunglasses. More information on Saturday's event can be found here.
