The Shippensburg University athletics department and the Raider basketball teams will be conducting its annual "Play 4 Kay" event on Sat., Feb. 1 from Heiges Field House surrounding its home PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader versus Cheyney.

The event will be held in conjunction with the national "Play 4 Kay" initiative of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund — with the purpose of increasing breast cancer awareness and raising funds for research.

The Shippensburg women will play at 1 p.m., with the men to follow at 3 p.m.

The games mark the only time in the final eight weeks of the regular season that Shippensburg will play at home on a Saturday.

All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the games and those who do will receive free admission.

The first 400 fans to arrive in pink will receive free Raider sunglasses.

All fans will also receive pink ribbons and signs at the entrance.

Numerous giveaways, promotions and fan competitions will be conducted throughout the day. Multiple campus organizations will be in attendance with information tables and a silent auction will be held featuring numerous items and gift baskets up for bid.

FIELD HOCKEY RECOGNITION: At halftime of the women's game, SU Athletics will recognize the 2013 Field Hockey National Championship team.

JANE GOSS PERSEVERANCE AWARD: The second annual Jane Goss Perseverance Award will also be presented at halftime of the women's game.

T-SHIRT TOSS: During the under-16-minute and under-8-minute media timeouts in each half of both games, t-shirts will be tossed into the stands. Additional t-shirts will be available for sale at the game.

MEN'S HALFTIME PROMOTIONS: A game of "Knock Out" will take place. Also, for a $1 donation to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, any fan will be allowed to attempt a three-point shot for a chance to win a t-shirt. Additionally, one lucky fan will be given a chance to shoot a half-court shot in an attempt to win a free semester of textbooks courtesy of the Shippensburg University Bookstore.

SU BOOKSTORE: In addition to sponsoring the men's basketball halftime half-court shot promotion, a mobile edition of the Shippensburg University Bookstore will be present with pink merchandise and other general merchandise for sale. The SU Bookstore is also providing a basket for the silent auction.

TAU KAPPA: Tau Kappa, Shippensburg University's women's athletic sorority, will be offering face painting at a table inside the gymnasium while assisting with donations. The student-athletes will also be handing out information.

INFO TABLES: Numerous organizations will be present at the game including the Shippensburg University Women's Center, Colleges Against Cancer and Jeff Fisher Insurance – who will bring their pink car to the game.

SILENT AUCTION: A silent auction will also be conducted with numerous items/gift baskets up for bids.

ABOUT PLAY4KAY: The WBCA Pink Zone was rebranded a few years ago as Play4Kay. The mission of the initiative, which was brought to life in 2007, remains intact: a nation of coaches raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is the official charity of the initiative.
