The Shippensburg University women's volleyball team finished off its 3-0 opening weekend at the Catawba Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a five-set victory over Lenoir-Rhyne from the host Indians' Goodman Gym. Set scores were 25-21, 25-20, 14-25, 25-27 and 15-10.
Senior
Jill Edwards again paced the Raiders with an 18-kill, 17-dig performance en route to being named Catawba Invitational MVP. Senior
Samantha Edwards (.304 hitting percentage) and freshman
Gabbie Holt (.333) each added nine kills, with the duo combining for just four errors on 44 total attacks.
Sophomore
Taylor Gottshall recorded eight kills in addition to four digs and three block assists.
Sophomore
Casey Hawbaker was credited with a match-high 29 digs while freshman
Maura Nolan – who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team – added 11 digs to go along with 45 assists from her setter position.
Freshman
Maria Peluso hit .400 on five total attacks and had nine digs while sophomore
Laura Plank contributed seven digs of her own.
