SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University volleyball team is pleased to host Military Appreciation Night during its home opener Friday night at 7 p.m. when it takes on PSAC East rival West Chester inside Heiges Field House.
SU Volleyball will be selling camo t-shirts at the match, with all proceeds and donations to be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life. The nonprofit organization's mission is to "honor and empower wounded warriors" of the United States Armed Forces.
There will also be opportunities to win "free SHIP gear" or free pizza. Contestants will have to donate $1 to participate — all donors will get a chance to serve a ball over the net and if they hit a prize, they will win it.
The Shippensburg ROTC will be present and serve as ball retrievers at the match. They will also present the colors before the National Anthem. All ROTC fund-raising efforts will benefit the Azalea Project for Wounded Warriors.
