SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team defeated Point Park 2-0 on Saturday evening from a rain-soaked David See Field.

The game-winning goal was credited to Jeff Ballard in the 60th minute. The play was started by Jonathan DeNicola who attempted to cross the ball from the left side, but the cross was deflected out to the front of the net by the Point Park goalkeeper. Robert Furfaro had a chance to knock in the deflection, but he hit the crossbar and the rebound set up Ballard for an easy goal.

The Raiders (3-1-1) added an insurance goal in the 74th minute when Derrick Roy tallied his second goal of the season. Roy never broke stride on his way to the goal as he received a pass from Ballard on the right side.

Ballard's three-point performance gives him two goals and one assist on the season, and he leads the team with five total points.

Senior Clay Sale recorded three saves and improves his record to 3-1-1.

SU out-shot Point Park (2-3-1) 18-13, but the Pioneers led 9-5 in corner kicks.
