Shippensburg University volleyball head coach Leanne Piscotty won her 200th career match on Saturday afternoon as the Raiders defeated Glenville State and Assumption at the RamFest hosted by West Chester.

The Raiders (6-0) – one of two undefeated teams remaining in the PSAC East (along with host West Chester) – defeated the Pioneers by set scores of 23-25, 25-11, 25-23 and 25-21 before sweeping the Greyhounds, 25-7, 25-20 and 25-20.

Piscotty, currently in her 10th season as the Raiders' head coach, has now posted a 201-145 record – with all of her coaching victories coming with Shippenburg.

Senior Jill Edwards combined for 40 kills and 16 digs on the afternoon and hit .443 on the day (.405 and .486) on 79 total attacks with just five errors.

Freshman Gabbie Holt combined for 19 kills on 40 total attacks while sophomore Faith Athey made eight block assists against Glenville State – one off her career high set last season.

Freshman Maura Nolan totaled 79 assists.

Shippensburg will travel to West Virginia next weekend for Mountain East crossover matchups on Friday (two at West Liberty) and Saturday (two at Wheeling Jesuit).

Shippensburg 3, Glenville State 1

After dropping the first set by two points, the Raiders responded with a dominant performance in the second set, hitting .600 and holding GSC (2-5) to just 11 points and a zero hitting percentage and at one point rattling off 10 consecutive points.

Shippensburg rebounded from deficits of 10-4, 16-11 and 21-16 to take the third set. SU took advantage of four consecutive Pioneer errors to get to 21-20 and later used three consecutive kills from Jill Edwards, Athey and senior Samantha Edwards to grab a 23-22 lead before an Athey kill and a Pioneer service error closed out the set.

SU played a more complete fourth set, leading virtually the entire way and hitting .281 while holding the Pioneers to .189 and .145 for the match.

Sophomore Taylor Gottshall hit .800 with eight kills on 10 attempts while sophomore Casey Hawbaker and freshman Maria Peluso (five aces) each totaled 12 digs. Nolan added six block assists.

Shippensburg 3, Assumption 0

The Raiders were more dominant in the nightcap, holding Assumption (3-4) to a negative hitting percentage in two sets – -.043 in the first and -.026 in the third.

SU hit .524 in its first set while holding Assumption to just seven points. SU held off late rallies from the Greyhounds in each of the final two sets to get the sweep while Hawbaker and Peluso each contributed 10 digs in the match.
