Raider Basketball Welcomes ESU on Saturday for Annual "Play 4 Kay" Games

Women look to bounce back after Wednesday's setback; Men ready to take on PSAC East leaders and defending conference champs

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Shippensburg University men's and women's basketball teams welcome East Stroudsburg to Heiges Field House on Saturday afternoon for a pair of PSAC Eastern Division games during the Raiders' annual "Play 4 Kay" home doubleheader. The women's game will tip at 1 p.m. with the men to follow at approximately 3 p.m.

Saturday's games will be held in conjunction with the PSAC initiative "Hooping For A Cure" and the national "Play 4 Kay" initiative of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund -- whose purpose is to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research.

Saturday is also ALUMNI DAY. The women's Alumni Game is at 10 a.m. while the men's Alumni Game will follow the 3 p.m. showdown with East Stroudsburg.

Everyone is encouraged to wear pink to the event. All fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the games. For more details on the day's giveaways and promotions, click here.

WOMEN

•    The Raiders won the first matchup this season by a 74-55 margin on the road and have won five straight against the Warriors overall.

•    A trio of Raiders scored in double figures on Wednesday night in a pivotal battle of two teams tied atop the PSAC East, but Shippensburg was unable to overcome a late Bloomsburg run in a 66-58 home loss to the Huskies that featured a total of 14 lead changes. With the loss, the Raiders fell into third place in the division behind Bloomsburg and Millersville

•    Also on Wednesday night, East Stroudsburg held a 49-22 rebounding advantage and forced 34 turnovers to secure the sixth and final playoff spot in the PSAC East playoff field with a 67-39 home win over Mansfield from Koehler Fieldhouse.

MEN

•    The Raiders lost at East Stroudsburg, 99-56, earlier this season from Koehler Fieldhouse.

•    Redshirt-freshman Tyhiem Perrin scored a career high for the third straight game on Wednesday night, pacing Shippensburg with 18 points as the Raiders took down Bloomsburg, 68-59, from Heiges Field House to complete the regular season sweep of the Huskies. Perrin added four rebounds and shot 4-of-6 from three-point range and 6-of-8 overall, as all four of his three-pointers came in the first 13 minutes of the game.

•    Also on Wednesday night, No. 9 East Stroudsburg tied a school single-season record with its 14th consecutive victory and improved to 20 wins on the season with an 83-58 home triumph over Mansfield.
