SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Jill Edwards and
Samantha Edwards combined for 38 kills on Senior Day as the Shippensburg University volleyball team recorded straight-set victories Saturday over East Stroudsburg and Shepherd and clinched the PSAC Eastern Division title in the process.
Set scores versus the Warriors were 25-18, 25-21 and 26-24, and 25-22, 25-21 and 25-14 versus the Rams.
The Raiders have locked up the No. 1 seed in the PSAC Eastern Division with one week remaining in the regular season. If SU wins its PSAC Quarterfinal match on November 19, it will then host the PSAC Semifinals and Championship match on November 22-23.
Shippensburg has now won six straight matches since dropping a 3-1 decision to Point Park on October 30. The Raiders have won 18 consecutive matches against NCAA opponents dating back to an October 4 victory over West Chester.
SU wraps up its regular season next weekend on the road at Lock Haven Friday and UPJ on Saturday.

Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg (6-26, 2-19 PSAC) played it close in each set but the Raiders used multiple runs to end up with the straight-set victory. SU scored six of the final seven points in the first set and five of the final seven points in the second set.
Jill Edwards, now second all-time in PSAC history for career kills (1,976), led the Raiders with 10 kills and 11 digs. She also added two aces and two block assists. SU served up nine aces in the match, including three by freshman
Gabbie Holt.
Sophomore
Faith Athey had four kills, a solo block and eight block assists. Freshman setter
Maura Nolan had 29 kills, 13 digs, a solo block and three block assists. The Raiders tallied 12 blocks in the match.
Samantha Edwards contributed four kills and four block assists.
Shippensburg 3, Shepherd 0
Jill Edwards was dominant in SU's second match of the day, as she led all players with 17 kills and hit just three errors for a .424 hitting percentage. Jill also had 11 digs for her second double-double of the day, served a match-high four aces and teamed up for three block assists. She now has 17 double-doubles this season and 62 in her career.
Samantha Edwards had seven kills, two digs, a solo block and swung .500. Sophomore
Taylor Gottshall had six kills while sophomore
Laura Plank totaled nine digs from her libero position.
The Raiders closed the match strong, hitting .480 in the final set and posting a .242 team attack percentage for the match.
