The No. 5-seeded Shippensburg University men's soccer team hung close with No. 20 West Chester in a testy PSAC Quarterfinal on Tuesday afternoon but gave up a golden goal in the 95th minute for a 1-0 overtime road loss to the No. 4-seeded Golden Rams from Rockwell Field for SU's second 1-0 overtime loss to WCU this season.
The Raiders (9-7-2), currently unranked in the Atlantic Region rankings, will await next Monday's 7 p.m. NCAA selection show on NCAA.com.
As of yesterday afternoon, West Chester (13-3-2) had earned the PSAC's No. 2 seed and a quarterfinal bye, but an NCAA violation committed by WCU was discovered on Monday evening that forced the Golden Rams to forfeit their final two conference games (both victories) and dropped them to the fourth seed in the PSAC Tournament.
The two teams were even in corners (eight apiece) while West Chester held a 20-16 advantage in shots. The teams also combined for 33 fouls and seven yellow cards.
The game-winner for the Golden Rams came at the 94:27 mark of the first overtime when Miguel Ross finished a cross from Alex Caplan to send the Rams to the PSAC Semifinals on Friday at top-seeded Mercyhurst.

Five of Shippensburg's seven losses this season have come by one goal, including four by 1-0 margins.
The Golden Rams extended their winning streak to 12 games, a run that began with their first victory over the Raiders on a golden goal in the 94th minute on Oct. 8.
